Maybelline Vox Box

If you're not signed up with Influenster yet, do yourself a favour.

You like free stuff, right?  Of course you do.

I recently signed up for Influenster and I've already received my first Vox Box!

For those of you who don't know, Influenster will send you packages (called Vox Boxes) of products free of charge on the condition that you review the contents.  In the meantime, you can review products on their website as well as ask and answer questions about products.

Let's look at what I got.

First is Master Prime by Facestudio primer.  I'll be honest, take my review of this product with a grain of salt.  I don't do the whole foundation thing, making the primer pretty useless to me.  I don't like the way foundation feels on my face--no matter what, it always feels caked on and gross.  The primer said it could be worn alone so I tried it.

It's OK.  As it does somewhat "blur the imperfections" it does it's job I guess.  It made my skin feel soft, but in spite of it's light, almost mousse-like texture, it still gave me the "ew I have makeup caked on my face" feeling.

Next is The Nudes eye shadow.  Lots of browns, my favourite!  The pallet is an obvious knock-off of the Naked pallets.  If you're looking for great colours on a budget, this is it.

Some of the colours are similar, but there's still lots of variety.  They go on great...

But will they blend?

They'll blend if you have the right brush.  Which isn't provided.  The pallet includes sponge tip brushes and I couldn't make it blend unless I used a bristle brush.  Over all, 3.5/5 stars.

The mascara is great!  The Falsies Push Up Drama is my new favourite.  Not clumpy at all, coated my lashes well, and made them look longer.  My only complaint is it's hard to get off.  It took me multiple cotton balls whereas my current mascara will come off in one or two cotton balls.  But hey, that goes to show how long-lasting it is.

The Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara is my second favourite product I received free from Influenster.  Once it's on, your brows won't move.  At all.  And the bulb shaped brush made for easy application.

Last but not least is the Vivid Matte Liquid lip gloss by Color Sensational Lip.  I'm more of a lip stick person, but I can't get over how great this product is.  It smells great, for one.  The colour lasts, for another.

I've heard complaints that this gloss isn't as matte as they'd like, and I can understand where they're coming from.  It's glossy when first applied, but turns matte when you blot it.  Liked the colour better when it was glossy?  Layer on more gloss and blot again for a darker, matte colour.

I'm wearing all five products in these photos.  The products make for a nice natural look or a more dramatic eye depending on how you wear the eye shadows.
Again, if you haven't signed up for Influenster, I strongly suggest they you do.  I'm happy with the products I received and I can't wait to be eligible for another Vox Box!
